Best Gluten Free Vegan Protein Powders

by

“These are some the best gluten free vegan protein powders available, all organic or GMO free, sugar free, or low sugar options. You can’t go wrong with these.”

Why Use Protein Powders?

Lets face it, you don’t really need protein powders. You can get all the protein you need by eating lots of nutritious whole foods. But if you are trying to save some time cooking and eating and want to maximize your protein levels you may find the need to supplement with some of these gluten free vegan protein powders.

There are really only two reasons you may need to use these powders. As a meal replacement or as a post workout shake. As a meal replacement, these gluten free vegan protein powders can really save some time. And as a post workout shake, you can really bump up your protein levels with these supplemental shakes in a healthy, sugar free or low sugar and organic way. Beyond this, please, take the time to enjoy cooking and eating. (healthy of course!).

What Kind of Protein Powders Do We Recommend?

As always, we try to review and recommend products that are gluten free, allergy free (including soy) and vegan. If there is a highly rated option that we really like that is RAW and made with lots of greens, that product will likely make the list.  One other important factor is flavor. We feel all of these protein powders taste pretty good. And we really don’t like sugar so we always try to include sugar free or low sugar options. Finally, we always try to suggest organic products and non-GMO products.

Gluten Free Vegan Protein Powders Ingredients, What to Look For

What are the best gluten free vegan protein powders made from? First of all, the protein is usually derived from peas, which is really a superior source of protein, and/or brown rice, which is also a good source of protein. Ideally, a good protein supplement will be made from lots of RAW, organic or GMO free greens and vegetables. These are our favorites. They may also contain quality probiotics that are great for a healthy gut, spirulina which is great for lowering blood pressure among other things, seeds like hemp, and lots of RAW sprout powder like quinoa, bean or alfalfa. Also, look for any included superfoods for a really excellent protein blend. Furthermore, most powders will either contain a little added sugar and/or stevia. If you are on a keto or paleo diet you will likely opt for the no sugar/with stevia blend. Some powders will not contain stevia or sugar. We like these because you have total control over what your shake/smoothie will taste like.

So lets get on to our favorite gluten free, vegan, organic, low sugar protein powders!

The Best Gluten Free Vegan Protein Powders

1. Orgain Organic Plant Based Protein Powder

This is probably one of the best tasting gluten free plant based  protein powders out there, the chocolate is a favorite but we love the vanilla as well.  This one provides 21 grams of plant based protein and around 20 servings per container. Some users say it can cause gas or bloating, but that is one of the complaints that acompany many protein powders. So if you find you have this problem then maybe try a different one of our recommendations.

We ♥:

  • Great Taste
  • Both chocolate and vanilla are excellent
  • 21grams of protein
  • 20 servings per container
  • It’s certified organic
  • Decent price
  • Great amino acid profile

Not So Much:

  • Some say it can cause bloating and/or gas

2. Garden of Life Greens and Protein Powder

Garden of Life has been a reliable go-to for raw supplements. We find their products to be some of the best. This protein powder is packed with raw greens, so for all of you raw foodists out there, this might be your go to. As with most of the other powders we are featuring, this one is soy free, dairy free, gluten free and of course, vegan. It’s a little more expensive than the Orgain product for the same amount or servings, but it’s raw so it may be worth paying the extra dough. We are, for sure. If you don’t mind sugar, this has 6 grams which isn’t too bad. And there is no stevia for all you folks than don’t like that flavor.

We ♥:

  • Good Taste
  • Raw
  • Probiotics and Enzymes
  • 20 servings per container
  • 20 grams of protein
  • No stevia
  • Organic

Not So Much:

  • A little more expensive
  • Somewhat chalky

3. Aloha Plant Based Protein Powder

We really like the Aloha plant based protein powders because of the great taste. So if flavor is high on your list and you don’t like stevia, this may be the one for you. With this protein powder you get less grams (18) of protein per serving than some of the others and you only get 15 servings which is a lot less than the first two on our list. But like we said, the flavor is great. One down side is there are no added probiotics so if that is important to you (it is to us) then you should go with the Garden of Life option.

We ♥:

  • 20 grams of protein
  • 25 servings
  • Clean ingredients
  • No stevia
  • Uses coconut sugar
  • 4 flavors

Not So Much:

  • No probiotics
  • Less servings
  • Contains xanthan gum

Like the Garden of Life option, this one has lots of nutritious greens. It doesn’t contain probiotics (other Vega protein powders do) but if greens are your thing then this is a great option. You also get 20 grams of protein per serving and 25 servings per container. That’s a lot. And the price is really good. It’s not organic but is GMO free, so no complaints there. We really feel that Vega offers high quality products, and this one is definitely recommended.

We ♥:

  • 25 servings
  • 20 grams of protein
  • Lots of good flavor options
  • Lots of veggies
  • No added sugars
  • Great price
  • Great taste
  • Not chalky or grainy

Not So Much

  • No probiotics
  • Not organic
  • Contains xanthan gum
  • Uses stevia if you are not into that

It’s organic, has 20 grams of protein per serving and offers 18 servings per container, and is packed with a clean organic fruit and veggie blend. It does contain added cane sugar though if you are trying to avoid any extra sugars. We really love that this product is made in the USA. The taste is pretty good also, try the chocolate. All around a great protein powder.

6. Pure Therapeutics Daily Vegan Protein

This one packs 23 grams of protein in each serving, the highest we have reviewed so far. Unfortunately you only get 14 servings per container for about the same price as some of our other options, which is definitely on the low end of the spectrum here. • Stevia aftertaste
